In an increasingly interconnected world, media plays a pivotal role in shaping intercultural understanding by bridging geographical and cultural gaps. This paper investigates the impact of media in fostering intercultural understanding through the lens of local stories reaching global audiences. By analyzing case studies and scholarly literature, this study explores how diverse forms of media, including television, film, social media, and online platforms, facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and empathy. Furthermore, it examines the challenges and opportunities encountered in the portrayal and consumption of local narratives on a global scale. The findings suggest that while media has the potential to enhance intercultural understanding by offering diverse perspectives and challenging stereotypes, it also faces obstacles such as cultural biases, language barriers, and commercial interests. By addressing these challenges and leveraging the power of media, societies can promote intercultural empathy, appreciation, and cooperation on a global scale.
